Gastronomy of the Ribera del Duero

The Ribera del Duero, in addition to being a prestigious wine region, has a rich gastronomic tradition that perfectly complements its wines. Here I present some typical dishes and products of the gastronomy of the Ribera del Duero:

Roast lamb
One of the most emblematic dishes of the region. The suckling lamb, which is a very young lamb fed exclusively with breast milk, is slowly roasted in a wood-fired oven until it is tender and juicy with crispy skin.

Black pudding from Burgos
Burgos black pudding is famous throughout Spain. It is a rice blood sausage, which is characterized by its mild flavor and smooth texture. It is a popular ingredient in stews and can also be enjoyed on the grill.

The Ribera del Duero is also known for its production of high quality cheeses. Some of the most outstanding are fresh cheese from Burgos, semi-cured and cured sheep cheese, and goat cheese.

The Ribera del Duero is an area where excellent quality black truffles are grown. This aromatic fungus is used in haute cuisine to enhance the flavor of dishes such as eggs, meat and potatoes.
