VIYUELA mapa de la Ribera del Duero
Ribera del Duero Spanish wines count on many wineries distributed practically over the whole region and located in areas of great importance cultural and historically. The landscape of vineyards presents an authentic feature from the tradition of the wine in Castile, Spain.
The transformation in this area in Spain over the last years has been vital for the vinic sector. In fact, the important recognition that the Ribera del Duero has undergone has been essential for Viyuela and many other wineries appearing in numerous surrounding towns, that still attract investors.

Red wines are deeply coloured from cherry red with bluish, indigo, violet and purple reflections in young wines to garnet or ruby red in reserva wines. Their aromas remind of wild mature fruits and  present own features from the wood they have got old, especially  crianza and reserva wines. These have a very strong personality.

Climate
The specific climatological conditions that distinguish the cultivation of vineyards in the Spanish area have an important influence along the growth cycle of grapevines and it grants the region some matchless features. The climate is Atlantic, rainless and windy. The winters are cold in contradistinction to the warm summers. However it is necessary to highlight this thermal variation among the day and the night due to the fact that it contributes to a very slow maturation of the grapes to obtain an excellent acidity index. The biggest risk of this Spanish area are the spring freezes that cause important decreases in production some years.
The vineyards approved by the Denomination of Origin  Ribera del Duero are located in the environs of the Duero river in northern Spain, of about 115 km long and 35 wide. It therefore includes a part of the region of Soria, Burgos, Segovia and Valladolid.
